What is a Spot Award?
MIT Spot Appreciation Awards (“Spot Awards”) recognize exceptional contributions by individuals in our Picower community. Spot Awards are a fantastic way to recognize great work or say thank you to someone for going above and beyond.
Who qualifies for a Spot Award?

All members of the Picower community are eligible to nominate someone for a Spot Award.

Members of the Picower community, except for Faculty and students, are eligible to receive a Spot Award.

No self-nominations will be accepted.

Individuals are eligible to receive one spot award every six months (no more than two Spot Awards each calendar year).
How do I nominate a member of the Picower community for a Spot Award?
Please use the form below to nominate someone for a Spot Award. Be sure to include a note about why you are nominating the individual for a Spot Award since all winners will receive a copy of their nomination. We will ask you to select a gift option (up to $50 value) from the below options for your Spot Award nominee. You will receive a confirmation email once your Spot Award nomination is successfully submitted. If you don't see it, check your spam/junk folder.
What do Spot Award winners receive?
- A congratulatory email which includes a copy of the award submission
- Nominators choose the gift option they would like to select for the nominee. Gift option choices include items from the MIT COOP, the MIT Press Bookstore, or Picower Institute-branded swag and merch. Note, we cannot award gift cards.
